Abstract
Peripheral T and B lymphocytes were studied in seven patients before and after treatment with acupuncture. The acupuncture sites chosen for stimulation were related to the lymphoid organs involved and responsible for the origin and source of circulating lymphocytes. The results show that after treatment with acupuncture alone, an altered composition of T and B cells in patient's blood returns to the normal value together with improvements of clinical symptoms. This is the first evidence of a possible effect of acupuncture on T and B lymphocytes in man.
