Abstract
A physiological somato-auricular correspondence can be observed when a circuit is established between the somatic point and auricular point of our body and a pulse generating electric stimulator. When the exact corresponding point between the body and the ear are established in the circuit, feeling of pulsations according to the frequency settings as well as needle deflections on the current meter and muscle twitches at the needle implanted body site can be seen in every subject. The electric resistance of the ear skin at the point of correspondence was found to be far less than the immediate surrounding skin area. This method of locating the physiological correspondence through the somato-auricular reflex can be utilized to treat pain, with the acupuncture machine serving both as an auricular detector as well as a pain treating machine.
