Abstract
Various methods of data collection using the Internet can be distinguished. Choosing a certain method has implications for the survey design and how respondents can be recruited. In this article the various forms of data collection using the Internet are discussed, a new acronym – IESI, or Internet Enabled Self-Interviewing – is introduced, and strategies for recruiting respondents are discussed. Finally, experiences of Statistics Netherlands with data collection using the Internet are described.
