Abstract
As part of ongoing work to strengthen the quality of the United Kingdom's Retail Prices Index (RPI), the Office for National Statistics has recently developed a formal Quality Management System for the monthly production process. The Quality Management System covers all aspects of the monthly production and also includes auditing and reviewing all parts of the process. The Quality Management System has been designed to meet the requirements of International Standard ISO 9002.
This paper describes the different aspects of the Quality Management System and how they are carried out. The paper also describes some of the benefits of using a formal Quality Management System.
