The relationship of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE,Geneva) to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD,Paris) and the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat,Luxembourg)

Abstract

This note attempts to explain, very briefly, the different roles and the relationships to each other of UN/ECE, OECD and Eurostat. It describes in particular the central role of the Conference of European Statisticians and some of the other mechanisms for coordinating international statistical work in the region which have developed in recent years.
