Abstract
Ecosystems, ecotope and biocenosis, are subjects for environment statistics. The ecotope is the space that is inhabited by a given biocenosis. The biocenosis is the organized group of plants, animals and micro-organisms, which live together on a given territory. Statistical research is extended to various areas of concern, i.e. climate, water, soils, settlements, phytocenosis and zoocenosis. In Bulgaria as elsewhere, environmental media are monitored with regard to admissible concentrations of polluting substances. In the future, co-operative research could be extended at an all-European level to statistical research into the cycles of sulphur and nitrogen oxides, the cleanliness of rivers and lakes, cycles of heavy metals noise in large towns, solid wastes, protected natural sites and the process of photosynthesis. Statistical variables and parameters can be developed in their regard.
