Abstract
An overview of the impact of recent EDP methods development on statistical methodology and survey techniques could perhaps best start with an account of some prerequisites at hand like the advent of low-cost micros and sharply declining costs of computer processing. The current EDP environment, EDP and statistics production, and some future issues also need to be discussed. Both Swedish and foreign experiences are relevant regarding automation, integration of processing operations, and the personal computer revolution. Some serious problems are associated with the extensive use of computing power.
