Abstract
The possibilities of harmonizing statistics from different sources depends upon the adequacy of the statistical units and populations involved, the classifications and definitions used, the units of measurement and the methods of data collection. The problems encountered and possible solutions to them can be illustrated by Norwegian experiences and examples in the area of manpower, mainly employment statistics.
