Abstract
The work of the Conference of European Statisticians has on several occasions favourably influenced the activities pursued in the People's Republic of Bulgaria relating to national statistical systems. Such influences were most pronounced in the 1965 and 1975 censuses of population and housing. The partial incorporation of the recommendations of the Conference into national census programmes have facilitated the use of Bulgarian data in international comparisons.
Bulgaria has also profited from the work done by the Conference on questions relating to the use of computers in statistical services. The interest is expressed in active participation by Bulgaria in ISIS Seminars and in the ECE/UNDP Statistical Computing Project.
The People's Republic of Bulgaria emphasizes the value of international statistical co-operation both within the Conference of European Statisticians and between the Conference and the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance as a practical implementation of the provisions of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe.
