Abstract
This paper was prepared to represent the current state of microdata access through Statistics New Zealand for the resident research community. It covers the legalities, what forms of access are available, which official statistics have microdata available, where the future direction may lie, and issues we face in meeting both researcher needs and our obligations under the Statistics Act 1975.
