Abstract
The reaction of Me2AsS2Na·2H2O with CuCl2·2H2O and Cu(AcO)2·H2O gave the complex Me2AsS2Cu but with Tl(AcO)3 gave (Me2AsS2)3Tl, while the reaction of Bunsen's cacodyl disulfide, Me2As(S)-S-AsMe2, with Cu(AcO)2·H2O and Tl(AcO)3 gave Me2AsS2Cu and Me2AsS2Tl. Identification of the by-products by TLC and 1H NMR lead to probable mechanisms for these reactions postulating two novel radicals: Me2As(S)-S• and (Me2As = S)•.
