Abstract
The aim of this work is the synthesis of Ni-doped MgFe2O4 ferrite as a robust, safe and magnetically recoverable catalyst by sol-gel auto-combustion method to catalyze oxidation of benzyl alcohol. The catalyst was characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR and VSM. An environmentally benign oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide as oxidant and Ni-doped MgFe2O4 as catalysts was treated under solvent-free condition in microwave condition. Ni-doped MgFe2O4 showed convenient catalytic activity. The resulting product was characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR. This catalyst can be recovered and reused.
