Abstract
An alternative estimator of the variance of the ratio estimator under the two phase sampling scheme has been proposed. The proposed variance estimator is approximately unbiased and more efficient than the existing classical estimator due to Cochran [2] and Rao-Sitter [6] under a linear superpoulation model with intercept.
