Abstract
Nature has, over millennia, developed effective strategies for locating and exploiting areas of nutrient rich resources. This work considers one such strategy, Area Concentrated Search (ACS), and uses this to extend Particle Swarm Optimisation. Initial indications are that swarms can benefit greatly from ACS as an aid to the efficient movement of individual particles across difficult optimisation landscapes.
