An agenda for citizens with disabilities: pursuing identity and empowerment

Abstract

Future progress of the disability movement may depend on the development of a positive sense of identity for disabled persons that will permit them to gain a feeling of empowerment. This analysis explores several features of extensive experience with a disability that might provide the basis for such a formation.
