Orientation and mobility and the Usher syndrome client

Abstract

In order to provide quality and effective orientation and mobility instruction to the student with Usher syndrome, it is crucial that the provider be cognizant of the significantly different needs of these students. This article will review the major differences between hearing-blind and deaf-blind O & M services, and will address the salient mobility issues that impact the Usher student.
