Abstract
The Americans with Disabilities Act, passed by the Congress and signed into law by President Bush, went into effect for employers of 15 or more people on July 26, 1992. Title I, Employment, prohibits discrimination in the workplace against people with disabilities. After two years, what is the status of implementation efforts? What is happening with the disability community, business, hiring, job accommodation, and enforcement? This article looks at these issues and provides some guidance for the future.
