Abstract
The generalized inverse is a subject of practical significance for estimating the solution of a system of linear equations under a wide variety of conditions. While the literature has ample references on the underlying mathematical theory and properties of the generalized inverse, it lacks a qualitative discussion of the generalized inverse that would facilitate the understanding of its properties under varying constraints. This paper discusses and develops the generalized inverse using heuristic arguments that offer key insights into its practical uses.
