Abstract
This paper presents an experimental prototype ATM traffic and performance measurement tool known as ATMTraP. ATMTraP collects traffic information, which can then be analyzed to provide source and link characterization and ATM network element performance. The prototype tool consists of dedicated hardware components and an X Window-based user interface that allow for the collection, display and analysis of ATM traffic statistics. Initial experiments using ATMTraP have been carried out in the Nectar Gigabit Testbed for different traffic sources including a Cray C-90 supercomputer, an iWARP systolic array and a HIPPI-equipped Sun workstation.
