Abstract
The stray losses in tank walls, yoke clamps, tensile plate of core limb and other electrically conductive construction parts of a transformer are computed using three-dimensional time harmonic finite element method. The distributions of losses in the construction parts are then analyzed, and the measures of controlling and reducing stray losses were discussed. The different types of magnetic shields are investigated to reduce the eddy current loss in the tank wall and the yoke clamps. Influence of both shielding types and dimensional parameters of a specific shield on the stray losses is discussed to fascinate engineering applications.
