Abstract
High performance superconducting generators design requires the use of efficient optimisation methodologies. A global strategy for the multi-objectives optimisation of such machines is here proposed: the algorithm is based on the Pareto optima concept and adopts the Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) approach. The optimal design model is here applied to a high temperature superconducting synchronous generator. The implementation of PSO scheme is shown to be well suited for Pareto design problems.
