Abstract
Modelling and prediction of magnetic fields in the vicinity of electrical power lines is an important contribution of electrical engineering to the clarification of uncertainty of the effects of low intensity magnetic fields on the living environment. The paper reports on investigations that use neural networks for the prediction of magnetic fields from power lines. Additional consideration is given to the lateral profile of magnetic fields as a result of asymmetry of the load in transmission and distribution lines. Results of both assessments can be used in epidemiological and other studies.
