Abstract
In order to examine the fundamental availability of a homopolar machine with laminated armature rotor disks, the authors fabricated and tested a small superconducting experimental homopolar machine with two rotor disks. The machine was tested as a generator. The obtained experimental data show that the output voltage of the 2-disk machine is about 2 times larger than that of the 1-disk machine. From this experimental result, we can conclude that the output voltage of a homopolar generator with axially laminated rotor disks is proportional to the number of the disks.
