Abstract
Time-periodic non-sinusoidal solutions of the magnetic diffusion equation are expressible either in the form of time-harmonic series or as space eigenfunction series. Based on the latter, eddy-current losses in a multilayer winding carrying a trapezoidal current are evaluated. Optimum layer thickness is obtained by minimizing the resistance factor of the multilayer winding. Formulae for square and symmetrical triangular waveforms are also included.
