Abstract
It is a well-known fact that motor parameters must be accurately known when it comes to designing the inverter control for variable-speed drives. Due to the nonlinear characteristics caused by cross-coupling and saturation effects, calculating inductances – and in particular the magnetic flux of synchronous motors – isn’t straightforward. This paper presents a numerical and stable method to accurately calculate the inductances from the two-dimensional motor characteristics.
