Abstract
The Communications Service Centre (CSC) and the library of the Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e) developed the search engine V-spaces in 2006, in co-operation with Infor, supplier of the Vubis Smart Library Management System, and the university library of the Free University of Brussels. Uniquely the inspiration for the development of the product came from a communications perspective; the high quality of the TU Eindhoven's digital library is the reason why the V-spaces search engine needs to dig so deep. V-spaces searches down to the document level and has the ability to retrieve information from within over 660 selected databases. A particular feature of the implementation of V-spaces is the integration with TYP03, the content management system used by CSC to develop and maintain the TU/e Web site (size approx. 20,000 pages).
