Abstract
This article reviews the work and objectives of CODATA, the ICSU Committee on Data for Science and Technology, regarding the archiving and preservation of access to scientific and technical data. The CODATA perspective on data and information and the activities of the CODATA Data Archiving Working Group are described as well.
