Abstract
The functions and overall position of the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) are presented. The main substance of the presentation is based on empirical inquiries made by the Libraries of the Delft University of Technology and KNAW in 1992 and 1993. The particular conclusions deal with the requirements of users for conventional forms of document delivery.
