Abstract
The European Museums Network (EMN) was one of the application pilot-projects within the RACE-programme of the CEC. The EMN project started in January 1989 and ended December 1992 as a pilot project.
The aim of this project was to provide and develop the exchange of multimedia information through advanced telecommunication technologies. Information on museums objects is available primarily for the museum's lay public. The museum visitor can access the EMN through interactive multimedia terminals in one of the eight participating museums.
The information to be retrieved consists of images, texts, sound, graphics etc. An annex provides information on visitor tests of the EMN system at MUSEON, one of the leading educational museums in the Netherlands with collections embracing natural sciences, technology and ethnology.
