Abstract
A concept for a metadatabase on environmental monitoring programmes is developed and applied to 82 programmes in Bavaria. Monitoring data on physical, chemical and biological parameters of soil, water, and air are structured taking into account the frequency, observation area, measurement method, and data management. Programmes are classified according to data quality, availability and comparability. The Bavarian monitoring network on terrestrial mosses is presented as an example for overlaying informations from monitoring data with industrial, population, and climatic data.
