Abstract
STATUS/IQ is an advanced text retrieval system that incorporates two new technologies—first, a “plain English” front-end, and second, it has the ability to rank, by priority, the relevance of each retrieved article to the original search query. The system tackles the problems of both information overload and underload, and has the advantage of eliminating the errors and ambiguities which can arise through using the Boolean equations and expressions demanded by traditional text retrieval systems.
