Abstract
This paper speculates on the role of computers in Nigerian academic libraries with perspectives on that country's special challenges. It is suggested that these devices and other technological elements can shorten development periods in this situation. Perceptions of library personnel as to roles and functions are noted and potential steps for implementation are suggested.
