Abstract
Very few sectors of industry can remain stable in this world of change. This is also true in the case of insurance industry. One of the main sources of change is the emergence of new ways to utilize information technology, of which the concept of inter-organizational information systems is among the most promising. In the article we will be discussing potential inter-organizational information system links in the insurance industry: where could they be used to gain operational or competitive advantage. The Finnish insurance industry is presented as an example.
