Abstract
In the future, libraries will be employing word processors or text editors to simplify production of internal documents. Although this is certainly an important application for a word processor/text editor, there are other functions that will be equally important for libraries. This article examines the capabilities of a mainframe computer text editor for creating a newspaper index. Cost and time factors are studied and recommendations are made for other projects that could be facilitated by this system.
