Abstract
The present note shows the possibility of improved model wake simulation by maintaining extended laminar flow with surface heating. The required heat transfer rates are based on flat plate calculations of boundary layer growth and stability characteristics computed by Wazzan et al.. Also results from recent tests conducted at the Netherlands Ship Model Basin (NSMB) which show the enhanced boundary layer stability with surface heating are briefly described.
