Abstract
Investigations were carried out with regard to the temperature distribution in palletised cargo loaded in a ship’s reefer space. Attention was paid to the usefulness of pallets concerning the distribution of air under the stack by measuring the temperature distribution in the cargo under various practical conditions. The influence of the construction of the air distribution system was also investigated.
The measuremens indicate that pallets are capable of distributing air, even under adverse conditions.
The temperature distribution in a cargo proved to be determined mainly by the temperature distribution in the air flow from the refrigeration unit to the cargo.
