Abstract
With the increase of ship dimensions, the enlargement of propulsion power and the aft location of the engine room, the ratio of hull and shafting stiffness changes essentially.
Vibratory hull deformations then also excite shaft vibrations, thus leading to extra bearing reactions.
For the transverse as well as for the axial shaft vibration solution schemes are described, taking the hull vibrations into account.
