Abstract
A description is given of an experimental simulator for the manoeuvring of surface ships. The simulator consists of a wheelhouse having a wheel, a rudder angle indicator and a compass, an analog computer and a point light source projector.
The simulators’ performance has been evaluated by professional ship-officers and pilots. Thereafter it has been in service for several investigations, among others the transfer functions of helmsmen and training studies.
