Abstract
Approximate methods for the analysis of z-steering tests are suggested. Describing function techniques are used to derive the equations. A time-domain method is given for that class of z-steering tests in which the describing function method is not accurate enough. The accuracy of the approximate methods is verified by theoretical considerations and computer simulation. Taking into account other sources of inaccuracy, the accuracy of the derived relations is found to be sufficient.
