Abstract
A comparison between calculated and experimentally determined motions and vertical wave bending moments is made for a number of Series 60 hulls to study the applicability of two calculation procedures based on the strip theory. The investigations comprise variations of the block coefficient, hull proportions, longitudinal radius of .gyration and forebody section shape.
The calculations were carried out with the equations of motion introduced by Korvin – Kroukovsky and with those of Vossers.
The differences between the two procedures and their effect on the calculated behaviour of the ships in regular waves are analysed.
