Abstract
The Authors give the results of experimental research which was carried out in order to gain more knowledge about some aspects of the behaviour in service of crankshafts and their bearings. These results show some phenomena concerning the flexibility of ship hulls, engine bedplates and crankcases on the one hand, and with the rigidity of crankshafts on the other.
They have made several comments and mention the practical possibilities of limiting the most harmful effects and also give some general ideas which might prove interesting for future applications.
