Abstract
In order to make the analytical method for determination of the ship’s bending moment in a seaway under static equilibrium more easily accessible for use in everyday engineering practice, the author provides in this paper an approximate solution of the problem.
This approximation consists in the fact that the author instead of taking into consideration ship’s actual lines assumes them to be of a convenient mathematical form. Thus the author was able to express all the constants required for the evaluation of the bending moment under static equilibrium as functions of the ship’s main dimensions and of various coefficients, which depend upon the waterplane coefficient.
The author evaluated all these coefficients and presented their numerical values in the form of tables, which can be used in practice for rapid orientational calculations.
