Abstract
From the conditions providing that, under static equilibrium, both the variable immersed displacement of a ship due to the transition of the still surface of the sea to a seaway, and the its variable moment with respect to the transverse axis of the ship must be equal to zero, the author of the present paper determines the laws governing the changes of ship’s coordinate parameters in order to ensure at any instant the static equilibrium of the ship.
By using these laws, the author proceeds then to evaluate an analytical expression of the ship’s bending moment in a seaway under static equilibrium.
