Abstract
A short description is given of the problems on the prediction of propeller shaft vibrations.
Rough data for the propeller excited force and moment fluctuations are dealt with. Some suggestions with respect to low shaft vibration stern arrangements are mentioned. Finally the necessity to carry out research into the mechanical properties of the propulsion system is discussed.
