Abstract
The principal approach to a theoretical analysis for the determination of the athwartships propeller vibrations is given. The results show that the fluctuating load of the propeller shaft, due to the vibratory forces of the propeller, cannot be neglected with respect to the shaft load, resulting from the average propeller thrust and torque.
