Abstract
Seakeeping experiments with a model of a Victory ship have been carried out in the Netherlands Ship Model Basin. The motions of the model as well as the power increase in waves were measured. Experiments have been carried out in waves having different lengths and heights and coming from different directions. The influence of the longitudinal weight distribution was investigated.
Separate experiments were conducted for determining the wall effect in head seas, and the influence of the control of the propelling motor. Roll damping in smooth water was determined as a function of speed.
