Abstract
This paper investigates the buckling of a flat reinforced rectangular plate with simply supported edges subjected to uniform compression. The reinforcement consists of equidistant stiffeners parallel to the edges of the plate.
A solution is obtained by expressing the deflection as a double Fourier series and solving the equation of equilibrium. The buckling loads are given as the roots of an infinite determinental equation.
Numerical results are evaluated for various combinations of longitudinal and transverse stiffeners, including the case when the number of transverse stiffeners tends to infinity.
