Abstract
This paper discusses the peculiar requirements of modern turbine machinery during manoeuvring, when changes of temperature raise problems. The phenomena which occur during various manoeuvres are described. Means are discussed by which the manoeuvrability of marine steam-turbine machinery may be improved. Although the paper deals mainly with the problem in relation to steam turbines, reference is also made to the gas turbine.
