SEVEN YEAR ITCH

Abstract

At the 2004 WCCC, I returned to competition after a 7-year absence. What made this an interesting experiment, rather than a simple “comeback”, was that my program, WOODPUSHER, was unchanged since it scored 5 out of 11 at the 1997 WMCC in Paris. This contribution describes my personal observations on the changes over the ensuing years as well as those things that have remained the same.
