Abstract
EPOS is a kernel, software engineering environment. EPOS supports integrated product and process modeling through a two-layer architecture. The bottom-level EPOSDB offers a traditional ER data model extended with subtyping and meta-types, uniform versioning, and nested and cooperating transactions. The SPELL process modeling language extends the underlying data model with behavioral object-orientation, type-level properties, and tasking. EPOS can thus be used to model, plan, execute, and evolve activities (“processes”); with associated products, tools, human roles, and projects. EPOS tools include a Simple CM tool, a Schema Manager, a Process Engine, a Planner, a Workspace Manager, and a Project/Cooperation Manager.
